Due to the coronavirus, attendance will be based on the crowd restrictions that are in place for that day, as decided by the Governor of North Carolina. If the crowd restrictions have been lifted, all will be welcome to attend. If the restrictions are still in place, the Mass will be a private Mass and will be limited to essential personnel. Please continue to pray for Deacon Jairo Maldonado and Deacon Matthew Nwafor, and all our seminarians, during this special time.

Holy Ordination to the Transitional Diaconate

Saturday, May 23, 2020
10:00 a.m.
Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral
Raleigh, North Carolina

As the difficulties and challenges brought on by the coronavirus pandemic continue to impact our community and the world, our constant mission must be directed toward the safeguarding and protecting of public health. It is with this in mind that it has been decided to limit attendance at this year’s diaconal ordination liturgy to those persons who are essential to the celebration of the sacrament.

Transitional Ordination to the Diaconate, therefore, will not be celebrated this year as a liturgy open to the public. Only those who have been previously contacted will be allowed to attend. The entire liturgy will be live-streamed to the diocese so that we may all join in joy with our brothers whom God has found worthy to become heralds of his Gospel.
